We always wanted to use granite on the kitchen countertops, and were fortunate to do it last summer. We used the gorgeous black galaxy granite for the kitchen countertops, and have ever since been mesmerized by the look. Granite stone does need sealing, and depending on the use, we were told that it needs re-sealing. After a year and a half, we thought that we might re-seal the black galaxy granite surface. We could find a good stone care sealant from the home improvement store and were equipped with all the necessary instructions to carry on with the job.
The sealing process is very simple and straight forward. Start the process in the morning after the breakfast is done, so that you have ample time to let it dry. We have already cleaned the granite surface the night earlier with a regular cleaning solution, which was now dry. According to the instructions, the sealant has to dry for around 6 – 12 hours. So, we completely created the counter, and covered all the other non-granite surfaces with a cling film. The backsplashes and other stuff on the counters were also completely covered. We applied the spray sealant on the granite evenly, and waited for it to dry. Once the first coat is dry, we applied the second coat and gave it 30 minutes to dry.
After 30 minutes of dry time, we wiped off the excess. This gave rise to a shiny surface, which was definitely glowing better than before the sealant coatings. This was such a simple process and did not require any hard work. Our effort was completely worth it, as we were seeing beautiful and glowing surfaces after the sealant application. Just ensure that you have all the doors and windows open, as the fumes from the sealant can be a bit overpowering.
